Carola Luther grew up in South Africa and moved to England in 1981. Her first book of poetry Walking the Animals was published by Carcanet in 2004, and was shortlisted for that year's Forward Prize for best first collection. She was previously joint winner (with fellow Manchester Writing School graduate Jane Weir) of a Jackson Dawson Award for Poetry. Her second collection with Carcanet, Arguing with Malarchy, followed in 2011.
Carola has worked as an Associate Lecturer at MMU, teaching on the online MA Creative Writing: Poetry programme. She lives in the Yorkshire Pennines and currently works in Leeds.
