The Radość Pisania: Manchester Polish Poetry Festival

Tuesday 30th-Wednesday 31st October 2018, various venues

The Manchester Writing School at Manchester Met is pleased to bring together visiting Polish poets with UK-based poets. “Radość Pisania” means “The Joy of Writing” in Polish, and features a celebration of Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska, a cemetery tour, an evening reception with readings, and a day of poetry workshops. Curated by poet Mark Pajak and the Manchester Writing School in partnership with the British Council, Kraków UNESCO City of Literature and Manchester City of Literature.

National Creative Writing Graduate Fair 2018

Friday 2nd November 2018, Manchester Met Geoffrey Manton Building

Join Manchester-based independent publisher Comma Press and The Manchester Writing School at Manchester Metropolitan University for the National Creative Writing Graduate Fair 2018. Now in its fourth year, the Fair is dedicated to up and coming writers. You can watch a keynote speech from a standout author, attend panels and workshops exploring writing, editing, performance and promotion, and also pitch your work to the country's leading literary agents and editors, right here in Manchester. All writers welcome – you don’t need to be a graduate to attend.

Writing Place: Creative-Critical Conversations: ‘More than 100 Stories: A Collaboration’

Thursday 8th November 2018, Manchester Met Number 70 Oxford Street

This series from the new Centre for Place Writing at Manchester Met pairs our researchers with artists from outside the University to discuss the relationship between creative and critical approaches to place. The first in the series features Sarah Butler (novelist and Lecturer in Creative Writing at Manchester Met) and Nicole Mollett (visual artist) discussing ‘More than 100 Stories’: a commission from the Creative People & Places Network which asked them to creatively evaluate 21 projects across England.

Writers at Manchester Met: sam sax

The Manchester Writing School at Manchester Met is thrilled to present a unique opportunity to hear acclaimed American poet sam sax. sam sax is a queer, jewish poet and educator.
