The Manchester Writing School at Manchester Metropolitan University invites you to an evening of poetry and music in the Royal Exchange Studio, hosted by Carol Ann Duffy.
Following the unprecedented success of sixteen sell-out seasons, Carol Ann returns to host her hugely successful poetry night introducing new writers from her poetry workshop at Manchester Met and special guests. Join Carol Ann for an evening of jazz, poetry and conversation.
Ella Duffy was a winner of the Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award 2010. She was commended in the W. S. Graham challenge on Young Poets Network as part of Graham’s centenary celebrations; a commended poet in the Melting Ice challenge 2017; and a winner in the Riddle Me This challenge. She was a finalist in the 2019 Ambit Poetry Competition.
Andrew McMillan's debut collection physical was the first poetry collection to win The Guardian First Book Award and it went on to win many other prizes. His second, playtime, was a Poetry Book Society Recommendation for Autumn 2018, a Poetry Book of the Month in both The Observer and The Telegraph, a Poetry Book of the Year in The Sunday Times and won the Polari Prize. He is senior lecturer at the Manchester Writing School.
